Construction + Design Studio (2018)
The objective of this proposal is to enhance culture through the transmission of knowledge while creating a meeting place for youth and elders. It also provides a safe and comfortable resting place for youth in difficult situations.
To strengthen cultural identity and a sense of belonging, the construction is inspired by the traditional techniques of Inuit makers while focusing on sustainability. Thus, the structure is inspired by qajaqs and folding nomadic tents to create spaces for relaxation, activities and exchanges. Ideally located in the existing schoolyard to share infrastructure or services, the Intergenerational / Youth House also becomes a unique showcase of local arts and crafts.
