Thesis Project (2017)
This project uses Inukjuak’s master plan renewal process as a pretext to highlight sustainable strategies for development or renovation. It serves as a potential decision-making tool to discuss four main challenges: preserving the landscape and its outstanding features, consolidating the village by optimizing vacant or underused sites, diversifying the housing supply and services to meet the needs of locals, and allow the appropriation of flexible and accessible meeting places.
The proposals are based on the symbolic and functional relationship that (consulted) Inukjuak residents enjoy with the village and the land surrounding it. They also take into account feedback from local decision-makers, as well as the governance framework.
