Thesis Project (2017)
The project proposes a facility that reflects the cultural aspirations of Inuit youth and provides them with a safe shelter. Implemented in Puvirnituq, the program brings together several family services, making them accessible in one welcoming place. The facility offers the opportunity to create a real home for the youth and space to express their identity. The quiet, restorative spaces (bedrooms, meeting rooms) are next to living spaces (kitchen, dining and living rooms), which are intended to bring people together. Set slightly apart from the main pavilion, semi-detached studio apartments form a circular outside space, somewhat hidden from the rest of the village. The overall program could be adapted to suit the needs, expertise and strengths of each community in Nunavik.
